Getting Ready

Talofa, everyone!  Talofa means hello in Samoan. I will officially be landing in American Samoa in 5 days (Monday, July 16th). While I am off on my 11 months of service and adventure I plan on updating this blog regularly. I invite all of you to join me in my adventure. I will post stories, experiences, and lots of photos. Today I am attempting to pack my suitcase. I have also been reading a lot about the WorldTeach Program and American Samoa.

Here is a link to the WorldTeach website if you are interested in any background on the program I have accepted a position through: www.worldteach.org

This is a world map view to give you some perspective on where I will be living the next 11 months:

This map below shows where volunteer teachers are placed in American Samoa through World Teach. I have been assigned Tafuna High School teaching Science. Tafuna is toward the southeastern corner of Tutuila.

I am very excited for this journey and could not do it without the support of my friends, my family, and my community. Thank you, all! Save this link if you want to keep up with me while I'm gone. Feel free to contact me me by e-mail (jessb2008@hotmail.com or jrb009@morningside.edu) or Facebook. I will be checking these on a regular basis. See you later!
